The Geospatial Office (ISD-GIS) is a new section of the Information Services Division (ISD) within the Alabama Department of Finance. Our goal is to develop initiatives and infrastructure that support, facilitate, and promote geospatial programs and technology for the State of Alabama. We will facilitate statewide sharing and utilization of spatial data, develop sustainable, cost effective programs and high quality systems for state agencies to provide services and build geospatial solutions on the state network and systems infrastructure. The Alabama Geospatial Office will serve state agencies and the geospatial community to spatially enable systems and generate the Alabama Spatial Data Infrastructure to support decision makers and the general public. We will provide technical resources, expertise, training opportunities, assistance, implement shared initiatives, and support federal geospatial standards and guidelines for stakeholders to help avoid duplication and high costs with an emphasis on collaboration, cooperation, efficiency, and wise stewardship of State revenue and resources.
